It's My Birthday!

Hello Everyone.  I hope you are all doing well.  Sorry for the lack of posting, I've been busy I guess.  Let me tell you about second session classes.  I was signed up for an 8 am walking class.  That didn't work out.  One day we walked 1/2 a mile.  I thought to myself, "Woman, I walked twice that much to get here."  I'll just take social dance next year.  I would never have signed up for such an early class except that I have to work during lunch hours.  I am worried about if I will be able to manage that during the year.  I am sure I will be able to, perhaps there is just too much partying during the summer.

I am also taking a class called Small Group Communication, which is not as horrible as it sounds.  I actually like my group a lot.  There are a few dumb asses in the class for sure, but that is to be expected.  When we were doing introductions on the first day we were asked to include our interests.  Two of the girls listed such things as "golfers" and "hot athletes."  So I clearly thought they were freshmen.  Well, they're seniors.  Pretty funny.  Pretty annoying, too.

Work is going well.  I am trying to figure out how to use this damn Fireworks program they gave me to make the PD website.  I am not sure how that is all going to work out.  I get to start organizing the evidence closet and destroying evidence and fun shit like that.  I'm pretty pumped, I guess.

Also, it's my 21st birthday today.  I went out last night and had a small party this weekend.  It has really been a wonderful series of days.  I love my friends.  It was nice hearing from some people I haven't spoken with in a while.  I should be better about that.  Things with Raj are going well.  I am waiting on him to pick me up for dinner, and I am practically starving.  He and I have an interesting relationship, that's for sure.  I think it all boils down to the fact that he's a Gemini and I am a Cancer.  I love him though, so I can overlook that major downfall.

Lollapalooza is coming soon.  I cannot fucking wait.  HOLLER.
K out.

In other news

Oh hay Everyone, I hope you all are well.  I am in week 3 of being homeless, and it is ok.  This weekend I bought all of my furniture and bedding.  I got all of my furniture at thrift and antique shops, so Mom and I refinished it over the memorial day weekend.  It is all beautiful and I am so excited.  My little cousin Emma turned 7 so I went there over the weekend.  Almost every time I see her I decide I can't have kids.  They were all running and complaining and yelling.  I need my children to be peaceful beings.  I'll need some time away to see if I think I can have kids again.

Work is going well.  I get to talk on the radio and use 10 codes, i.e. 10-4.  It is pretty funny.  Sometimes I say the wrong stuff and it's totally embarry.  I love my job, the people I work with are super nice.  Today the copier man with a fake tan and WAY too much cologne, read:  the whole bottle, hit on me.  I was all, "haha, okay moving on."  I think my eyes got so big they almost made my head explode.  That was funny and awkward.  Online Class is stupid and makes me want to die, but it is school so I guess that is to be expected.

I bought my Lollapalooza tickets last week.  I am so excited.  I'm going on a diet to look hot for the city of Chicago and Daft Punk!  Look at the link, the lineup is fantastic.  I may never need to go to a  concert again.

Overall, things are kind of boring but I've got fun stuff coming up so I'm keeping it positive (but real) like always.  K out.

Summer Update

Oh hay, Everyone.  Summer is here, and what a relief... sort of.  I can't move into my apartment until June 7th, so thank goodness for my lovely friends that are putting me up for a few weeks.  Steph and Brooke are my lifesavers plus five.   Raj kind of is too, I guess.

I sort of missed everyone as they were leaving, I'm sad about that.  I guess I got so wrapped up in exams that I couldn't see them.  I did well though, so that makes it a little less bad?  I'm not sure.

Do you wonder what else is going on other than me living in other people's places?  Well, I am working for the Police Department and that is going well.  I really like it being up on the news, and the people are actually quite nice.  I make the big bucks and that never hurts.

I was enrolled in a class this session, but I dropped it for an online course this morning.  I just can't do a regular class schedule right now.  I'm extremely tired of classes and the same old thing.  Anyway, I hope they approve it.  There was one opening in the class and I assume it has my name written all over it.

Next Wednesday I am buying tickets for Lollapalooza, which I will expect will change my life.  I cannot wait!   My refund check didn't come in, so I'm eating peanut butter sandwiches until Wednesday as well.  Also my rear tire is fucked, so I'll get that fixed then.  Wednesday is going to be the best day of my life.

General Updates and Such

Hello Everyone, I hope you all are well.  I am a little sick, but that is to be expected in times such as these when pollen litters the streets and clogs up my insides.  Anyhow, I am doing well.  I feel like I am ready to take on exams and the 3 essays (30 pages total), portfolio, and midterm that must be completed in the next two weeks.  I just want to get it over with.

Let's talk jobs.  Tomorrow I am interviewing with the Carrboro Police Department for a part-time position answering phones during lunchtime hours, maintaining the police log, and making a recruiting website.  It pays $12 an hour and will certainly pay my bills.  Captain Booker basically gave me his card and told me to apply a few weeks ago when I was there on EM business, and we've been in contact since then so I feel good about it.  Speaking of EM, I don't have to make a website.  I am going to compile a crazy-ass massive report with my suggestions, and then someone else will make it.  Clint told me he never expected me to make a website, so I often wonder why I needed to learn to use Dreamweaver and why the job description was a lie.  Either way, at least I can pass exams and feel some relief in regards to work.

Working for EM has really exposed a lot of issues related to disabilities.  Emergency plans are really exclusive, and don't account for the needs of the disabled.  I think many are discriminatory without realizing it, but it is a massive problem.  I made a survey asking students about emergency preparedness (how prepared they are, etc.) and tomorrow I'm going over the results with the associate director of housing.  Basically no one knows what's up and we're all dead.  My next step is to send the survey to the director of disability services for further review and additions before sending it to the disabled community at UNC.  My hope is that this survey will be an impetus for more inclusivity and awareness in terms of emergency plans for the disabled, and maybe actually making a plan to start with.  It will be a tool for guilting administrators and getting people to be prepared!  Also, I'm going to be assisting in a conference for emergency preparedness for disabled people.   That's all exciting.  It makes my work seem more meaningful.

Things are well with my boyfriend.  He is really nice and a selection from the smart-man buffet.  He is very considerate and accepting of my core values and personal beliefs, and really makes me quite happy.  I'm excited to see how these things will develop, and I think we can learn a lot from each other.  In general, he makes me excited about the future, and that is nice.

Other:  Michael Stewart, where are you?
Shun, let's run?
I think I'm going to do a marathon in the fall.
Daft Punk is coming to Chicago this summer, and I am going and staying with my lovely Diane.

Sorry Everyone, that post was quite long.  Let's meet for coffee soon.  K out.
